Blu-ray Technology

blue-ray-discNew technology is now making it possible for viewers to record and store high definition programming onto DVDs. Blu-ray Disc is one method of recording HD content onto an optical disc. A blue-laser optical disc (MPEG-2 or MPEG-4) is used. Systems that use this technology will be able to play traditional DVDs, but the goal of Blu-ray is to create an image that’s as close to the HD format as possible. The name Blu-ray comes from the blue laser that decodes and copies information to each disk. Blu-ray technology may very well revolutionize the world of high definition programming.

The Blu-ray disc format offers greater potential for storage, usually 25 gigabytes, which exceeds that of a standard DVD (15 gigabytes). One single-layer Blu-ray disk can hold about four hours of high definition content. A two-layer disk can contain eight hours of HD content. Four- and eight-layer disks are now in the works. These disks would have storage capabilities of 100 and 200 gigabytes. The Blu-ray recording system utilizes a shorter wavelength for recording information than traditional CDs and DVDs, and this is part of what allows it to hold more content on a single disk.

Basics Of A Router

routerRouter is a computer device that receives or forwards data packets to and from the Internet towards a destination in the process called routing. Router is the essential component of the computer networking that enables any sent data to arrive at the right destination.
As an illustration, imagine that the Internet is the world and one computer is one household. Other computers connected through the Internet are households around the world. Say one household will send a letter to another household in any part of the world. The letter has an address right? And that address would determine the destination of the letter.

But without one reading the address, the letter would not arrive to the right receiver. The letter also would not be able to reach the intended receiver if there is not medium. This medium would be the courier. And the courier of the computer data is the router.

A router (broadband router) is also a device that enables two or more computer to receive data packets from the Internet under one IP address at the same time.

internetsecurityOne of the main ways to compromise internet security on your PC is via a program called a Trojan Horse. A Trojan Horse is a program that quietly runs in the background, inviting the user to run it, while spreading its malicious code. This code can do any number of things. It can start right away or it may simply install a program that won’t start for sometime. Once it does start, it can delete all of the files on the computer or it can infect the computer and try to infect other computers on the network. There are a number of ways spyware is delivered, and as a Trojan horse is the most common.

In addition to these things, spyware may infect your e-mail address book. Once this occurs, spam will be sent to every single person in every single infected address book.

The major difference between spyware like Gator and most other spyware programs is that users are understandably notified of its download before it actually occurs.

Another significant spyware threat is CoolWebSearch. This spyware can do a number of things to compromise your internet security. First, it can take over your current internet settings, making things display wrong, and causing other system inconsistencies.

internet-browser-logosFor many of us, the Internet browsing software we employ allows us do simply that – access the various Internet sites we might find useful or interesting. We find ourselves using a particular browser almost by default, and think nothing of it, even when we encounter difficulties. But any regular Internet user needs to know that there are choices when it comes to selecting the right web browser for you, and that this choice should not be limited by aesthetics or speed alone – using the right Internet browser can also protect you while you surf.

Internet Explorer is the software of choice for eighty-five percent of web browsers. Though perhaps ‘choice’ is something of a misnomer, as many of these people are recreational surfers with little understanding, or, indeed, desire to understand, the workings of this type of software. With the simple urge to log on, look around and log off again, they stick with the only name they know, not realising that there are other options available.

The oft-used Internet Explorer has exhibited some safety glitches in the past that should cause some concern. While no web browsing software, while no software at all, is perfect, it makes sense to choose the brand that displays the greatest security history. Internet Explorer’s nearest rival is Mozilla Firefox, and though security reports of this software initially make more optimistic reading, this is perhaps in part due to the relative anonymity of the company that owns it, in terms of the general web surfing public, and the lack of negative attention it therefore receives.
